CONNECTICUT FUSION HIRE D’AGOSTINO
New UWS East organization names long-time local coach to lead Fusion
Farmington Sports Arena (FSA) have announced the name of their new team in the United Women’s Soccer (UWS) East Conference. The Connecticut Fusion will train and play at FSA in Farmington, CT. The team officially joined the UWS East last month, making the announcement at the United Soccer (USC) Coaches Convention in Philadelphia, PA.
In addition, the Connecticut Fusion and Managing Directors JP Dellacamera & Shep Messing have reached an agreement to hire Tom D’Agostino as the team’s first-ever Head Coach. Tom D’Agostino brings extensive coaching experience with 35-plus years at the youth, college and professional levels. D’Agostino was the former men & women’s coach at Westfield State College, head coach of the Western Mass Pioneers and assistant of the Western Mass Lady Pioneers.
D’Agostino is currently the ECNL Boys Director of Coaching and coach for the 2005 & 2000 ECNL Teams for FSA FC in Farmington, CT. In addition, Coach D’Agostino is the father of Bianca D’Agostino Bogosian, a former member of the Boston Breakers and the United States U-23 Women’s National Team.
Tryouts for the Connecticut Fusion will take place on March 3rd and 10th at Farmington Sports Arena, 11 Executive Drive, Farmington CT from 2-4:00 PM on both days. About Dellacamera and Messing – Managing Directors, Connecticut Fusion: JP Dellacamera is a soccer commentator currently working for Fox Sports and the Philadelphia Union of Major League Soccer. He has called play by play action of 8 consecutive Men’s World Cups on TV or radio, and 5 Women’s World Cups on Network TV. In addition, he has been involved in 3 Olympic Tournaments on NBC. With Fox, he has been a part of UEFA Champions League, Europa League, Gold Cup and Copa America Centenario coverage.
Shep Messing, a former professional goalkeeper turned broadcaster, is currently working with Madison Square Garden TV as the main analyst on New York Red Bulls (MLS) soccer. He is a former USA Olympic and National Team goalkeeper. Messing was also a championship goalkeeper on Pele’s great New York Cosmos team, and finished his career playing indoor soccer in the Major Indoor Soccer League. As an indoor keeper he won 4 titles with the NY Arrows.
