UWS Team of the Week
The Week 2 Team of the Week has been announced by United Women’s Soccer (UWS) as clubs across the United States prepare to take the field on Saturday and Sunday. New England Mutiny sits atop the Eastern Conference standings, while Detroit Sun sits in first in the Midwest.
UWS Soccer News: United Women’s Soccer (UWS) has announced the Team of the Week ahead of the third weekend of matches during the 2017 season.
In the East, the New England Mutiny have taken an early lead in the conference. In the Midwest, Detroit Sun FC were victorious in an early season showdown with Grand Rapids FC. In the West opener, newcomers So Cal Crush FC edged conference powerhouse Real Salt Lake Women on the road in the lone match of the weekend.
When it comes to the second edition of the UWS Team of the Week, the performances of the players from those three victorious sides are highlighted. Week 3 of the second UWS campaign prepares to kick on Saturday with a weekend of competitive matches scheduled.
UWS TEAM OF THE WEEK (WEEK II)
F–Morgan Santoro (Long Island Rough Riders): Two goals in a 3-0 win over New Jersey.
F–Kate Howarth (New England Mutiny): Two goals in a 3-2 win over Lancaster.
F–Skylar Fleak (Toledo Villa FC): Two goals in a 2-2 draw versus Michigan.
MF–Riley Houle (New England Mutiny): One goal and an assist in a 3-2 win over Lancaster.
MF–Carissima Cutrona (Western New York Flash): One goal in a 2-2 draw versus New York Surf.
MF–Dane Evans (Detroit Sun FC): A solid midfield peformance in a 2-1 win over Grand Rapids.
MF–Taylor Elliott (Long Island Rough Riders): One goal in a 3-0 win over New Jersey.
D–Reny Viviana Roncancio Farfan (New York Magic): One goal in a 1-1 draw versus Rochester.
D–Mallory Carcich (So Cal Crush FC): A solid defensive effort in a 2-0 win over Real Salt Lake.
D–Madison Duncan (Michigan Legends FC): A solid defense performance in a 2-2 draw versus Toledo.
GK–Adriana Maldonado (So Cal Crush FC): A shutout in a 2-0 win over Real Salt Lake.
