After Playing in the Women’s World Cup, Lady Andrade Joins Western NY Flash As A Midfielder
Soccer News: The Western New York Flash announced the signing of Colombian star Lady Andrade, pending the receipt of her P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC).
Andrade becomes the fifth member of the Flash to have participated in the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, joining Whitney Engen (USA), Sydney Leroux (USA), Ajara Njoya (CMR) and Michelle Heyman (AUS).
Andrade started all four of Colombia’s World Cup matches, scoring a goal in the team’s 2-0 upset win over France on June 13. The forward, who can also play midfield, also scored in a 2-1 group stage loss to England. Colombia was knocked out of contention in the Round of 16 by eventual Champion, USA.
The 23-year-old has 45 international caps to her name and a total of nine goals. She represented her country in both the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London.
On the club level, Andrade joined Finnish club PK-35 in 2013 and made 14 appearances and eight starts for the team. In 2014, the club participated in the UEFA Women’s Champions League and reached the Round of 32.
The Flash next face Sky Blue FC on Sunday afternoon in a 3 p.m. ET kickoff at Sahlen’s Stadium—their first match since the World Cup.
