Mexico Eliminated After PKs in the 2022 Concacaf Under-20 Championship
Competing in Concacaf’s 2023 U-20 World Cup will be the USA, Honduras, Dominican Republic and Guatemala. While the U-20 World Cup means everything to many youth soccer players, the Mexican team will not be part of the upcoming soccer action.
Mexico’s U20s will not be in Indonesia as they just faced defeat, losing in PKs.
It was a real soccer surprise. Guatemala defeated Mexico in PKs on June 29, 2022,and advances to the Concacaf U-20 Championship semifinals, eliminated the world class rival. This is only the second time in Guatemala’s history that it has advanced in this competition. the first time was in 2011.
Guatemala’s Arquimides Ordonez scored first when he redirected a header and found the back of the net in the 39th minute. Guatemala’s goalkeeper Jorge Moreno was the hero of the match. Born on Dec 28, 2004, Moreno blocked tough shots by Jonathan Perez. Fans were kept on the edge of their seats until Mexico equalized in the 75th minute.

The official draw for the 2022 CMU20C took place back on Thursday, March 3.
The draw results were:
Group E: United States, Cuba, Canada, Saint Kitts and Nevis
Group F: Mexico, Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname
Group G: Panama, El Salvador, Guatemala, Aruba
Group H: Honduras, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Antigua and Barbuda
The star of the USA’s FIFA Men’s U-20 World Cup match was Paxten Aaronson, whose two goals made all of the difference for punching the Red, White and Blue’s 17th U-20 World Cup ticket.
