Women’s Soccer: Excelsior Barendrecht Hosts Amsterdam Ajax in Rotterdam
Excelsior Barendrecht welcomed Amsterdam FC Ajax to Van Donge & De Roo Stadium on Friday night in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The hosts, a joint team of Excelsior Rotterdam and BVV Barendrecht, are competing in their first season as partners in the Eredivisie Vrouwen (Women).
BVV Barendrecht has fielded a women’s team since the 2015/16 season. The clubs partnered prior to the current campaign that commenced in September.
AFC Ajax Vrouwen kicked off in 2012, with the club crowned champions of the 2016/17 season. The visitors claimed a 2-0 victory on the night led by Inessa Kaagman and Lindsey Keizerweerd.
Eredivisie Vrouwen consists of nine clubs with additional teams planned to join in the coming years. Stay tuned for more coverage on women’s soccer in the Netherlands.
