WPSL Divisional Championships Kick Off on Saturday
Women’s soccer in America continues to draw more fans — and, as the WPSL season comes to an end, the best teams in the largest women’s soccer league in the world prepares for their final competitions.
Divisional Playoffs of the WPSL kicks off this weekend as matches in Sacramento will be held at Bonney Field in Cal Expo. The Central Conference Playoffs will also take place this weekend in Chicago as the 2016 WPSL season hits the final stretch.
WPSL Soccer News: The Western Division Championships of the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) will be hosted this weekend by the NorCal Champions, the California Storm of Sacramento, at Bonney Field in Cal Expo.
The teams representing all the regions are strong and it will be impossible to figure out who the eventual league champion will be. Good luck to all competitors, we are seeing the best of women’s amateur soccer,” says Jerry Zanelli – Commissioner of WPSL.

Who are the league’s top performers?
WPSL Top Performers: Sherifatu Sumaila (Ghana national player) from California Storm sits in first place with 31 points at the top 10 overall leaders in the WPSL.
The standings are based on the amount of games played, goals scored and assists throughout the regular season.
Aline De Lima from New York Athletic Club just 1pt behind first place with 30pts.
Jade Ovendale, Oklahoma City FC, third place, 28pts
California Storm kick off the weekend versus the San Diego SeaLions at 10:30 a.m on Saturday. The match will be followed up by the Beach Futbol Club of Long Beach taking on the Seattle Sounders Women at 1:00 p.m.
The finals will take place on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. as champions of the Western Division will be crowned.
The Central Conference Playoffs will be held in Chicago as the Dayton Dutch Lions take on the Chicago Red Stars Reserves in the first semifinals match. Michigan Chill SC face FC Dallas Women in the second match over the weekend to set up the finals in Chicago.
Matches for the remaining Regional Playoffs are currently not set. The following teams top their conference with matches to played in the near future.
Michigan Chill currently sits in first place of the Great Lakes Conference, while the undefeated Boston Breakers Reserves top the New England Conference.
New York Athletic Club sit atop the Mid-Atlantic Conference as the undefeated Penn Fusion SA leads the Tri-State conference in first place.
Washington Spirit Reserves also remains undefeated on the season as the NWSL affiliate tops the Colonial conference.
Carolina Elite Cobras top the Carolinas Conference, while the Atlanta Silverbacks remain undefeated in the Southeast Conference.
The final undefeated WPSL team sees the Orlando Kicks sit atop the Sunshine Conference.
The opening weekend of Regional Playoffs will surely see some stellar soccer as the 2016 WPSL season kicks off the final stretch of the year in Sacramento and Chicago.
