Boston Breakers Reserves Claim 2016 WPSL Championship
Boston Breakers Reserves bring home the 2016 WPSL Championship following a win over the San Diego SeaLions in Columbus, Ohio. Boston concluded the 2016 campaign undefeated with a win over the Chicago Red Stars Reserves in the national semifinal.
WPSL Soccer News: The Boston Breakers Reserves are crowned the 2016 WPSL Champions following a 3-0 victory over the San Diego SeaLions on Sunday.
The first half ended scoreless as the Breakers came out in the second period with a surge to claim the crown in Columbus, Ohio.
The Breakers opened the scoring in the 50th minute off a counterattack from Katie Lenz with a second tally coming seven minutes later by Gilda Doria. With just seconds remaining, Chanel Johnson capped the scoring to give the Breakers Reserves the 3-0 victory.
The Reserves won the WPSL New England Division with a 10-0-0 record and advanced to the national championship following a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Red Stars Reserves in the semifinal.
