San Antonio Athenians SC To Host Tigres UANL Femenil
San Antonio Athenians Soccer Club (SAASC) will be hosting its second international friendly this Friday as the WPSL side hosts Tigres UANL Femenil at Blossom Athletic Center. The match highlights a soccer weekend in San Antonio with the city’s USL team competing on Friday and the CONCACAF Gold Cup coming to town.
WPSL Soccer News: The San Antonio Athenians Soccer Club concluded the WPSL regular season in third place of the Southwest-South Division with a record of 8-4, narrowly missing the playoffs in their inaugural season.
Co-owned by Sue Borst, this team has exploded on the homefront, creating a media stir and gaining serious soccer fans of all ages. “This inaugural season has been great. It is our first in the WPSL and we have received a lot of media attention.”
The San Antonio Athenians Soccer Club (SAASC) are in the WPSL’s Southwest-South Conference in the WPSL’s Central Division. In this week’s Standings, SAASC are in the middle of the tight competition with a total of 24 points.

Although the WPSL season concludes for the first-year club, the Athenians have one final game to showcase their talent. SAASC will host Tigres UANL Femenil in its second international friendly on Saturday, July 15, at Blossom Athletic Center at 8:30 p.m. ET.
SAASC will be donating a percentage of ticket sales to the family of SAPD Officer Miguel Moreno who tragically passed away in the line of duty on June 30, 2017.
San Antonio FC’s(USL) Friday night match versus OKC Energy FC at Toyota Field, and Sunday’s Gold Cup matches at the Alamodome presents a three-day soccer weekend.
The Athenians have another reason to celebrate as defender Michelle Hogan is officially engaged to SAFC forward Billy Forbes. While romantic proposals sometimes conjure up images of the beach at sunset, this was a real soccer lovers’ proposal. The big question was popped right on the field — to the thrill of the teams’ adoring fans and players.
