Zoey Goralski Returns to SoCal FC For 2017 WPSL Season
SoCal FC welcomes back Zoey Goralski for the upcoming 2017 WPSL season as she returns for her third campaign with the club. Goralski enters her senior season for the UCLA Bruins and received a call-up for the U23 USWNT last month.
WPSL Soccer News: Defender Zoey Goralski will be returning to SoCal FC for the 2017 Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) season that kicks off this weekend. The Naperville, Illinois, native will play her third season with SoCal FC ahead of her final year at UCLA this upcoming fall.
“There are players a coach would love to have in their fold because of the values they bring as a person and player,” said SoCal FC head coach Dido. “Zoey is beholden of that persona. She has played an integral part to our team since our inception and will be a true veteran for So Cal FC this year.”
Goralski has been one of UCLA’s best players during her collegiate career. After missing her freshman season due to injury, she bounced back in top form the following year, earning Pac-12 All-Freshman Team honors. She scored two goals and had three assists that year.
As a sophomore in 2015, she led the Bruins with five assists and had a Pac-12 best of four assists. Goralski started 21 of 22 games during her junior year in 2016. She recorded five assists and earned Pac-12 All-Academic honors for the third consecutive year.
Goralski is also a current member of the U23 USWNT, having most recently participated in a training camp in April. She has also represented the U.S. at the U17 and U20 level.
For SoCal FC, Goralski was a key component of the back line in 2015, helping lead the team all the way to the national championship. In 2016, she played a limited role on the pitch due to school commitments.
“I feel fortunate to be able to call upon her services once more because she has one more year before she follows the path of some of her classmates into the pros,” said Dido. “She brings with her an electric and dynamic personality on the field, and we’ll look to experiment on different things and just have fun with it this summer.”
SoCal FC opens the season on Sunday, May 21st, when they host Beach FC. The match kicks off at 6:00 p.m. PT at Bishop Alemany High School in Mission Hills, CA.
