Youth Soccer News: Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles U15 is in the LIGA MX 2019 Clausura final.
The young Xoloitzcuintles beat visiting Club Leon 2-0 Saturday night in the semifinals at Estadio Caliente. Coach Gilberto Mora’s team will face Chivas de Guadalajara in the championship final.
It is the second final to be played by the Under-15 as it clinched the title in this category in 2015.
This time in 2019, the Xoloitzcuintles are in the final thanks to a pair of goals by midfielder Christian Castillo. The 15-year-old from Tijuana scored in the 28th and 50th minute.
He helped give the Xoloitzcuintles the 1-0 lead when he put back a shot into the net after a series of caromed balls in the area.
Castillo added his second score when took a pass and dribbled from the right side and slotted it in for the 2-0 lead.
That score sealed the Xoloitzcuintles spot in the final next week. The Under-15 squad thanked the fans in attendance and part of “La Masakr3”, the supporter’s group, that came to support.
