AYSO Play of the Week Contest
AYSO partnered with FOX to help grow the game of soccer in the USA. The new AYSO Play of the Week contest let’s your AYSO player try to star in a feature on FOX Sports!
Does your child and his team day dream of playing soccer in front of thousands of people? It doesn’t have to be just a day dream, it can happen. By entering the “AYSO Play of the Week” contest that dream could become a reality!
All you have to do is submit a video (keep your cell phone handy) of your AYSO player or their team making an awesome play during an AYSO game while wearing their new AYSO-FOX Sports 1 jersey. It can be a great goal, a super save or even a great give and go.
The selected videos will be featured on FOX Sports 1’s Major League Soccer (MLS) Game of the Week postgame show, which airs most Sundays during the MLS season.
This contest will go through Oct. 25, 2015. If you have any questions, email socialmedia@ayso.org.
Here are some Tips for Creating a Soccer Video!
Creating a soccer video can be easy and fun for the whole family. Obviously, you can use your iPhone, other smart phone or a video camera to create your video and there is tons of fairly easy to use software for editing such as windows movie maker or iMovie for Mac.
For inspiration, you can look at videos on YouTube of the pros or other kids playing the world’s favorite game.
A tripod for stability can be helpful, or having someone hold the iPhone who has a very steady hand! Try asking two people to help you shoot your video and then combine those two angles in a post (that’s what real movie people call editing). It could be cool to get a goal from two different perspectives!
Another great trick for a successful soccer video is to think before you shoot! Make an outline of your youth soccer video before you ask your parents or friends to start shooting footage. Steven Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino, Clint Eastwood and Michael Bay (who produced the Transformers Age of Extinction and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2014) always work off an outline or a script. Just spend a few minutes to figure out what you want to see in your video: do you want passing, dribbling, finishing, volleying, heading and scoring? Or do you just want to show you love of the game and why you think soccer is so wonderful?
Just remember to catch your AYSO player wearing their AYSO-FOX Sports 1 jersey in your soccer video.
