Kosmos River Plate Bring the BU11 Arch Cup Platinum Home to Queens
New York Youth Soccer News: Kosmos River Plate won this final of two Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League teams
In a back-and-forth game between two Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League (CJSL) teams, Kosmos River Plate defeated Silver Lake Cobras, 5-2, to win the Boys-Under-11 Arch Cup Platinum.
This Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) championship game was played on Saturday, June 3 at Stringham Park in LaGrange.
Hugo Notuera scored two goals with Mark Cajamarko, Kevin Contreras and Luca Landa adding one each to pace Kosmos.
“We missed many opportunities earlier in the game but we finally put the ball in the net,” said Kosmos coach Delores Nunez.
Kosmos also added the Rocco Amoroso Sportsmanship Award as determined by the game officials to their growing trophy case.
Amoroso, a US Soccer Life Member who died last year, started the Sportsmanship Program of the LIJSL in 1980 and it spread to Eastern New York, nationally and then to China and Ireland, and in the process, made soccer games kinder and gentler.
